Is that a Wolf or a Dog? by Marcangelo L. Benevenga

Our Product Review: Now here’s something we don’t get to review everyday…a book! And not a big chapter book on dog psychology, a wonderful story of a boy wanting a dog so badly he’ll do and put up with anything (and I really mean anything). A very well written story with great illustrations breaks down all the steps most dog owners go through, except with one key difference; falling in love with one of the rarest and hardest to train dog breeds around. From implementing a plan of how to get a dog across the Atlantic Ocean, to developing a relationship with a breed that doesn’t necessarily build relationships as easy as say a Lab, to valuing material objects differently (trust me, we’ve gone through that step too ha), and learning patience to a degree you never thought possible. Is that a Wolf or a Dog? tells the story of dedication, a deep love and desire, patience, and friendship. The heart wants what the heart wants…and sometimes, that’s a wolfdog. Company’s Description: Marc loves dogs, but has always dreamed of owning a pet wolf. It was something he thought could only happen in fantasy books…until he visited Italy with his family. On the streets of Venice, Marc learns about the rare Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. Marc becomes determined to own this beautiful dog, but there is a problem. Back home in Toronto, there are no Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs. Marc has to import a puppy from Italy, and names her Arya but he quickly learns that she isn’t like regular dogs. Marc quickly learns the challenges of owning a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog: Arya is intelligent, mischievous and an escape artist. Are these dogs always this difficult to train? Will Marc’s dream turn into a nightmare? Will he and Arya develop the relationship he has always dreamed of?
